Singapore's iconic Merlion is getting a head-to-tail makeover for its 40th birthday this year.
Fine crack lines will be filled in, stains will be scrubbed off, and the waveform on which it rests will be replaced with a new one.
From June 15, a fence will be put up around the attraction at One Fullerton, concealing it from public view. It will reopen in early September before its big day on Sept 15.
The 2.5-month closure will be the statue's longest since it was built in 1972.
